Testimonials

After a 12-week recovery from knee surgery, I'm proud to say that I have "graduated" from the "advanced physical therapy" program prescribed by my therapist Dan Somers.

I cannot express the humility and gratefulness I have for Dan and his staff for helping me through this difficult time in my life. From the first day he had an eagerness for me to regain my flexibility and muscle strength and his slap-stick humor only helped to sustain me through the "un-pleasurable" moments of my treatment plan. His innovative insight to my needs and abilities provide me with just the right amount of latitude to push me a bit further each visit which has helped me to improve my quality of life.

Dan often went the extra mile to ensure my safety. Once when I didn't show up as expected he called, concerned that something out of the ordinary may have happened. I looked at this as a show of genuine concern. When I complained about my lateral tendon being uncomfortable, Dan researched the situation and performed some pressure point maneuvers to ease the pain. Even though this was time consuming he never seemed in a hurry to rush through the treatment. Another time I complained of pain in the front part of my knee and he experimented with wrapping to see what would relieve my discomfort. This external taping support proved very effective. He took the time to stretch my quad, and though this was not the most pleasant treatment, I improved greatly in this area. Finally, he suggested the use of a Dyna-splint, which proved to increase my flexibility with weeks.

I think I was a fairly difficult patient and want to make sure that Dan and his staff are thanked for taking the extra time to pay attention to detail when things just didn't seem right. Also, for lending and ear and encouraging me to push harder when I really didn't want to. Each and every member of his team had a key role in my rehabilitation.

Thanks for everything,

Vilma M.

Over six years ago I injured both my knees, tripping over the open dishwasher in my home. My orthopaedic surgeon recommended physical therapy, this turned into five months of three times-a-week treatments. My knees did improve somewhat, but I was then diagnosed with arthritis in both knees. The doctor said it looked like knee replacement would be in my future. I was using a cane to walk everywhere and could only stand for about 5-7 minutes. I spent the next five years missing out on one activity, event, or occasion after another. My husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and because I was so inactive my weight increased until I became obese. I became a spectator instead of a participant in life.

When my husband died this past winter I decided I would "bite the bullet" and have the knee surgery I had been putting off for so long. My doctor recommended that I go to physical therapy to try to strengthen my muscles prior to surgery. This time I choose a clinic closer to my home, Henning & Cole.

From my first visit with Alan People at Henning & Cole my journey has been amazing. I never had such a detailed exam from a therapist in all the five months of previous treatment. Alan explained that my flexibility was extremely limited, but he thought that with a lot of hard work I might be able to put my cane in the closet and increase my stamina and endurance. I began therapy three times a week and faithfully did my home program. Alan was very different from my prior therapists, he really seemed to care if I was improving. By six weeks into my program I noticed muscles developing in my legs and I could go up and down curbs without using the handicapped ramps. I could get out of a chair much faster and stopped using my cane at home. I was walking faster and with more self-assurance.

My quality of life has been vastly improved by physical therapy. I am now able to walk without a cane (although I still keep it with me when I venture away from home). I'm excited to be able to stand long enough to prepare an entire meal for my family and friends. I can climb the stairs much to the amazement of my family. The best part is that I have decided that knee surgery will not be a part of my future for a long time – if ever!

Dear Dr. Ahuja and Rodger,
Today I function normally in my daily life, due largely to the comprehensive treatments I received from both of you. Having never experienced a broken limb, I suddenly found myself totally unable to walk and suffered pain that surpassed childbirth.
I was faced with the daunting challenge of learning to walk again, on a healing but tender, swollen limb. I visited Henning & Cole ...Thank you for teaching me respect for the human body and leading me to exercises that promoted healing and restored strength to my leg. I didn't think the pain would ever end. It has. My leg has been completely restored. I thank God you were there and that your staff is as committed to excellent care as their boss.

I will never forget either of you and highly recommend your practices to my family and friends. I wish you both continued success and prosperity and trust you will be part of the Baltimore medical community for many years to come.

Sincerely,
Janis C.

Dear Mr. Henning and Mr. Cole:
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for the staff of your Hunt Valley office. Everyone that I came in contact with in that office was professional, courteous and sensitive to my needs. I am also pleased to see your commitment to the community by offering internships to students from Hereford High School.

I want to commend the excellence of Ms. Cindi Schrum and Ms. Sophia Farantos-Hobbs. Ms. Schrum performed my initial evaluation, and was extremely sensitive to both my emotional and physical state. Her skills are superior, and her commitment to my care outstanding. She explained all aspects of my treatment, and readily addressed any questions or concerns I had. Prior to her leaving for vacation, she consulted with her colleague, Ms. Sophia Farantos, to assure the level of care we discussed would continue.

Ms. Farrantos as well, is exceptional. It was clear that she prepared herself to continue my treatment where Ms. Schrum left off. She reviewed my progress with me each visit, discussed my options and included me in making decisions about my care. Her demeanor was a positive and supportive force in my treatment. Her encouragement played a major role in my success.

If I am ever in need of PT services again. I will, without question, return to Ms. Schrum and Ms. Farantos-Hobbs.

Sincerely.
Kay K.

Dear Dr. Lanzo,
You recently treated me for left shoulder instability and prescribed a course of physical therapy to strengthen my shoulder area. I wanted to take time to thank you and Amy for referring me to Henning & Cole Therapy.

Ms. Cindi Schrum, my Physical Therapist, was very effective in evaluating my situation, formulating the PT plan and guiding me through it. I am pleased to say that my shoulder is much stronger and my range of motion has improved - thanks to Cindi and her professional attention. Again, thank you for the referral.

Sincerely,
Steven J.

Dear Roger:
I want to take just a moment to thank your staff at the Perry Hall office for helping me recover from my tibia plateau fracture. From my initial phone call to my final therapy session I received friendly and professional service. The office staff was always friendly and efficient. My therapists always managed to come up with new exercises to hasten my recovery. I want to thank them both. If I ever need physical therapy in the future I will be sure to call Henning and Cole.

Sincerely,
John K.

To Whom It May Concern:

I just want to drop a line to let you know of the wonderful attention I received from Ruth Anne Snyder of your staff when I visited your offices. While the attention I needed was certainly unique, Ruth Anne was very accommodating and inventive in designing a truss, which helped to alleviate the pain and discomfort I was experiencing because of the pregnancy-induced hernia I had developed.

Often, we only take time to let someone know when there is a problem. I did not want this opportunity to pass by without commending Ruth Anne for her attentiveness, which certainly went above and beyond.

Very truly yours,
Rebecca K.
